President and CEO
Stephanie Forsyth
Stephanie Forsyth was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Red River College in September 2010. Prior to joining the College she worked in the British Columbia post-secondary system for over 23 years. Stephanie has held various senior level administrative positions at colleges throughout BC, most recently as President for ten years of Northwest Community College in Terrace.
Stephanie has been highly involved in industry training, and social and economic community development. Much of her work has focused on First Nations communities, new Canadians, displaced workers and the unemployed. Under her leadership, Northwest Community College now serves more Aboriginal students than any other post-secondary institution in Western Canada and has become a leader in Aboriginal education and training.
Stephanie is the recipient of the Governor General’s Literacy Award, the Queen Elizabeth Jubilee Anniversary Award for her work in community development, the Northern Women’s Leadership Award and the Northwest BC Executive of the Year Award. She has served on many provincial and national committees to further economic development, Aboriginal education, research and Indigenous arts.
Stephanie holds a Master of Higher Education and a Bachelor of Arts. She is presently completing her doctorate at Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia.
Role of the President
As Chief Executive Officer, the President reports directly to the Board of Governors and provides the institutional leadership for implementing the Board’s vision, mission and strategic direction for Red River College. The President is an ex officio non-voting member of the Board and its standing committees.
The President is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the College and oversees all academic and administrative functions within the Board’s prescribed policies and standards.
