LGBTT* Initiative

The LGBTT* Initiative at Red River College fosters the development of a safe environment on our campuses so everyone has the chance to work, learn and access services in an inclusive and welcoming manner.

The LGBTT* Initiative provides educational opportunities and resources to build communication, understanding and respect for diversity throughout the College. This is an initiative for all Red River College students, staff and faculty.

The LGBTT* Initiative at Red River College is designed to:

  • Foster a College climate that is more inclusive of all LGBTT* people on campus, including students, faculty and staff.
  • Educate staff, faculty and students on sexual orientation and gender identity.
  • Assist College staff, faculty and students in becoming familiar with issues and resources that exist for LGBTT* people on campus and off campus.
  • Respect the confidentiality of all people.

 Ally Project

As part of the Initiative, Red River College coordinates an Ally Project that seeks to create a safer, welcoming, and supportive environment for LGBTT* people by helping them to identify Allies who they can trust and with whom they can be open.

Embracing The Community

Red River College is a proud supporter of this year’s Rainbow Resource Centre Gala, and will be also participating in Pride Week and the Pride Parade!

*The acronym LGBTT* represents lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, two-spirit, and other people who are marginalized in society because of any aspect of their sexual orientation or gender identity. The ordering of the letters does not represent a hierarchy of value. The use of the asterisk (*) is to indicate other identities and sexualities, since letters and words cannot fully represent the diversity in the LGBTT community.
