Portal FAQ

How do I find the Portal?
The Portal can be found here: https://go.rrc.ca . You will be asked to log into the Portal in order to use it if you are off-campus. If you are staff, faculty, or student, your login user name will be your network login name@rrc.ca. Your password will be your normal RRC network password you use to sign onto your Red River College computer.

How do I get help with using the Portal?
If you encounter any errors, you can e-mail us at go@rrc.ca or file a CaseLog (this is the College’s technical trouble-ticket website)

Which web browser works best with Portal?
The best browser to use is Internet Explorer on a PC. The best browser on a Mac is Camino. Some features of Portal do not work in Firefox or Safari.

Are there special security concerns related to Portal?
Yes. When logged into the Portal, you have single sign-on access to other college applications such as WebAdvisor and  Mail. If you leave your computer unattended, others can view all College data to which you have access. When leaving your workstation, it’s advisable to logout or press CTRL-ALT-DEL and then select "Lock Computer".

Why does the Portal ask me to login when I try to open a Word document? ‎
This may occur when you access the portal from off campus. Since you are normally logged into your workstation with a different user name and password than your college credentials, Microsoft Office must confirm to the Portal Sharepoint that you have permission to view that document. From home, it is better to save a document locally onto your machine from a Document library (by right-clicking on in and selecting “Save Target As…”) than to actually left-click on a document to open it directly from Portal. Left-clicking on it might prompt you for another request for you to login!

How can I learn more about using the Portal? ‎
We have two areas in the Portal itself with asnwers to many more questions:

STAFF - HOW DO I?

STUDENTS - FAQs
