Federal Indirect Costs Program

The Government of Canada’s Indirect Costs Program provides funding to postsecondary institutions for the indirect costs of conducting research. These hidden costs – which range from staff training to operating lighting - often go unnoticed, but are essential to the success of a project. The annual grant helps ensure that Canadian colleges and universities have access to the best equipment and support for federally funded research. Red River College’s office for Applied Research & Commercialization uses Indirect Costs Program funding to assist with:

  • preparation of research proposals;
  • assisting/supporting researchers and research projects where needed;
  • technology transfer, diffusion and commercialization services; and
  • intellectual property protection and management.
