Red River College’s Corporate Solutions department is about more than just training services.

Though training once made up a large part of the department’s mandate, it’s since been expanded to include consulting and development services, as well. The roster of “customized solutions” now includes everything from hiring policies and practices to Lean assessments, consulting work, curriculum development, gap analyses, and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

"There are a lot of industries and companies and clients that know they have a need within their organization, but they don’t know how to (fill that need)," explains Corporate Solutions Manager Darlene Bouvier. "Whether they’re talking about generating more revenue, increasing productivity, lowering their expenses, or just resolving a situation -- these days, it’s about more than just training."

An arm of the College’s School of Continuing and Distance Education, the department provides solutions for industries, organizations and communities throughout Manitoba and the world, by tapping into RRC’s ever-evolving network of real-world experts."We have the expertise of the whole college at our fingertips," says fellow Corporate Solutions Manager Cynthia Horgan. "We’ve got experts on everything from aerospace to automotive, health care to community services."

The department’s portfolios encompass a wide range of government and industry partners. Flexible delivery models (among them, the College’s Mobile Training Labs and distance learning options) allow solutions to be highly customized -- with an emphasis on blended strategies that are tailored to clients’ specific circumstances and needs.

"We’re not just restricted to a classroom or a shop any longer," says Horgan. "Employees don’t need to be sent to us anymore -- now we can go to them."
