Dan Gilbert, CoachDan Gilbert, Coach

Dan’s passion for coaching has led him to work with over 50 volleyball teams since 2000, head coaching 30 of those teams. His teams have captured over 30 medals in Provincial and National Tier 1 Championships. In addition, he has helped lead his teams to 16 Provincial Finals, 14 National Semi-Finals, and 7 National Championship Finals.

Entering his fifth season as the head coach at Red River College, Gilbert maintains an overall MCAC record of 55-5, including 3 league championships. He is a co-founder and club director of the 204 Volleyball Club, which aims to develop athletes from the age of 12 to 18. He has been actively involved with the Manitoba Provincial Team Program since 2004, including work as a head, assistant, and mentor coach. Representing Team Manitoba, he has coached at the Western Elites, National Team Challenge Cup, Western Canada Games, and Canada Games.

Gilbert is a NCCP Level I and II course conductor and is heavily involved in the mentorship of young coaches within the Province. This University of Manitoba B. Sc and B. Ed graduate is fully certified NCCP level 3, and recently obtained a Master of Science Degree in Sport Science and Coaching Education.

In recognition of his coaching, Volleyball Manitoba awarded him with the Mary Jean England Elite Coach of the Year in both 2008 and 2012. He was recognized at the 2009 Coaching Manitoba Excellence Awards as a finalist for the Dr. Jack Hunt Development Coach of the Year.
