The Language Training Centre at Red River College has developed and delivered English language programs for more than 30 years. Students at the Centre come from all over the world, speak many different languages and bring with them varied life experiences and cultures. At the end of our programs, students choose to go on to post-secondary programs, explore future career options or return to their countries with broadened horizons and a newfound knowledge of English.
Red River College’s Language Training Centre offers a variety of English language and academic preparation programs that will support successful learning, living and working in the heart of Canada. The Centre is located at the Main Street Campus in the Union Train Station at the corner of Main St. and Broadway Ave. near the Winnipeg ‘landmark,’ The Forks.
The Forks is an expanse of riverside property in the heart of downtown Winnipeg. The Forks is one of Winnipeg’s most beloved and pre-eminent meeting spots, at the junction of the Assiniboine River where it meets the mighty Red.
The Forks possesses a rich 6000-year old history. Early Aboriginal peoples traded at The Forks, followed by European fur traders, Métis buffalo hunters, Scottish settlers, riverboat workers, railway pioneers and tens of thousands of immigrants.
Today, framed by the banks of the two rivers, The Forks is Winnipeg’s number one tourist destination with more than four million visitors annually.

Aside from being an excellent, centrally-located campus, the Centre’s location is symbolic of new beginnings and new challenges. Today, many people in Winnipeg can trace their family history to the arrival of an individual or group of individuals who came from other countries and disembarked from a train that arrived at Union Station.

The Centre offers full-time language programs with 25 hours of instruction per week. Our EAL instructors are certified and are very experienced in teaching English to international students. Our intensive courses are interactive and include periodic excursions and the use of computer labs. Apply today to study English with students from all over the world. The students at the RRC Language Training Centre come from over 30 different countries.
International students enrolling in programs at the Language Training Centre are required to have an English language assessment to ensure placement in the appropriate program and level. Students entering into the Intensive English as a Second Language Program do not require a TOEFL exam prior to beginning studies at Red River College. Intensive EAL students are tested on-site and placed in one of the many levels of this program from beginner to intermediate.
